I was at one of the fast-food outlets near the Aquino residence earlier today and I saw this group of middle-aged ladies handing out stickers and other Cory merchandise to passersby. I realize that former President Cory Aquino’s death anniversary is coming up, but so what? Why are those people making such a big fuss over this through showbiz gimmicks, again?
I heard in the news that the yellow horde will be unveiling a giant photo-mosaic of Missus Aquino (I would have liked to refer to the former president as Tita Cory, but the yellow camp’s annoying overuse of this appellation compels me to do otherwise). According to reports, the organizers of this distasteful gimmick plan to use the event to secure yet another Guinness World Record.
But why? Why? Why? Is that all this country is going to be good at — chasing after useless world records? I hope you get one for the “World’s Biggest Ploy To Keep People Emotional and Stupid”.
Now, I’m also wondering why the yellow horde would even pursue this thing at a cost of P2 Million. Isn’t the president trying to set an example of austerity? Reports say the cost is being shouldered by private sponsors. Even so, this is a wasteful undertaking. Those private sponsors should have just used the money they spent on this thing on something more productive and beneficial.
As I was enjoying my chocolate milkshake, three of those yellow ladies decided to take the action inside. Major anNOYance! One of them decided to chat me up. I tried to be polite, but, God, did she make it difficult. This lady wanted to give me one of their stickers, which had some slogan about pagbabago. I politely refused. It was then that this lady said to me, “Are you not interested in seeing the country change for the better?”
Huwaaaatttt?!? And yes, she said it in English because she was a bit Coño.
This lady who is probably a charming lola when she’s not annoying the hell out of strangers really got my blood boiling. Had I not been able to bite my tongue, I would have probably pointed out to her that there’s no way their Cory stickers would bring about change and that she better just get out of my face.
This is the sort of thing that makes the yellow camp a prime target for criticisms. Instead of just focusing on REAL work, all it ever does is come up with all sorts of showbiz gimmicks. Is this all we’re gonna get in the next six years? Useless events meant to appeal to the emotions?
I hope all Filipinos will wake up and see exactly what the yellow camp is doing. I won’t even blame this thing on Noynoy anymore. I’m convinced this is solely the handiwork of several of his advisers who fancy themselves as media and marketing geniuses, which they probably are. I’m 100% sure though they are not as patriotic as they want others to believe. They’re just protecting their real agenda the best way they can and that is through smoke and mirrors.
Just consider this truly pathetic attempt at getting people all sentimental again over Missus Aquino’s death. The following quote was lifted from Facebook.
“”We Remember, We Celebrate, We Believe!” Thank you very much Auntie Cory!”
Hey emo-dude she’s dead. Saying a quiet prayer in her behalf should be enough. Ginagamit n’yo pang marketing tool ang dating pangulo. Mahiya hiya nga kayo!
And to that lola who made me lose interest in my chocolate milkshake: Don’t talk to anyone about change because you suck!
It is one way of boasting the sagging popularity of Noynoy
Aquino. They have the: Blame cards; EDSA cards; Heroism cards; Cory Aquino cards; Catholic church cards; Iglesia Ni Kristo cards, etc…They play all these cards on you. To deceive you. To delude you. To take away your Focus on Noynoy Aquino. Because, he is not doing a good job as President. They have to get your attention away from him.

The cordon of manipulators and sychophants is called:”cordon sanitaire.”
These group of people are there for a ride: to promote their own personal agendas. Once, they feel Nonoy Aquino’s ship is sinking. They will surely jump off…find another ship in power, to ride on. These people are political opportunists…They were with Gloria Arroyo…now, they are with Noynoy Aquino. Their loyalties is their own stomachs…

Saddam Hussein of Iraq has a 95% popularity rating, during the last years of his term. This is according to the Iraqui surveys. He won also the election referendum with almost 90% votes. When he was overthrown: it was found out that almost all the people of Iraq hate and detested him. They even brought down his statue in the Main Square of Baghdad.

I doubt that’s a valid comparison.

i think what hyden is pointing out is that a person may be popular but that doesn’t necessarily mean he is the right person.

I thought Hyden’s point was about how Saddam controlled all levels of discourse in Iraq during his reign, and that somehow that is the case in the Philippines today.

It is my Privilage to inform my countrymen; especially the upcoming Young Generation. We have been decieved by these: political opportunists; political family dynasties; politician hypocrites; etc…for many years already. This is the reason, we are just going around and around in circle; electing these political misfits.
I have no hidden agendas; but: to tell the TRUTH. To speak to you, from the bottom of my heart. I am a Private Citizen Journalist. I have no training/education as a Journalist. But, I am educated and experienced in the right way; at the right situations; on the right time. I will not force you to agree with me. If you agree to my opinions…Thanks…If not…Thanks also.

2 million pesos for that huge poster? Such a big waste of money..
*sigh*

The Cult of Personality is tactic of Dictators. Kim Jong Il of North Korea is doing it. Mao Tse Tung of China, did it. Lenin and Stalin of Russia did it. Saddam Hussein of Iraq did it also. They built themselves huge statues (some as high as a ten stories building); for people to worship; and remind them:they are in charge with their lives. Huge Portraits as large as a small town are made:for people to worship. It is the CULT of WORSHIP, they are doing. To divert and get your attention away, from them doing a lousy job…

I’d like to connect this post with your latest post. If their stickers were absorbent of human waste or mud, then I’d urge them to troop to the Pasig River and patiently dip them in the water or whatever’s there that’s pretending to be water. That’s real hard work and not just a show of yellow fever.
