Earth Hour Tonight

Earth Hour is up later at 8:30 pm Manila time. Hope you’re up to the task of switching off your lights and other electrical appliance for at least an hour.

By the way why don’t we do one better. Why not have an Earth Hour everyday. An hour of reduced electricity consumption everyday should not be too much to ask.

    That’s a good idea.

Also, why doesn’t the government give incentives for the importation of green power technologies like solar cells, wind turbines, and such?

Moreover, why not encourage barangays to buy solar panels so that the roofs of houses in entire neighborhoods could be converted into a giant solar power generator. The power could then be bought and sold on a barangay grid.

Beyond this, it could start a movement called “Get Off the Grid”, where homeowners who are able to generate their own power unhook from Meralco.

yes, the government should really, seriously, earnestly look at projects that would increase our country’s use of green power technologies. the problem is the government’s budget for science and technology reasearch is not enough. it would really be good to see green technology projects being implemented in the barangay level.
